The issue may be swing, not distance
When a socket cannot reach a buried fastener, the first instinct is another extension. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it creates a longer version of the same problem.
A straight line can be the wrong line
If a frame member or bracket blocks the path, adding length does not create a new route. Your hand is still forced into the same crowded position.
Separate the two turning points
An offset extension separates where you turn from where the socket turns. The ratchet stays in the open area. The chain-driven transfer carries the turning action through the gap.

Choose the compatible drive and socket, then check the available space. A useful setup starts with the tool path the job actually gives you.
